Saturday 2nd June is Coins, Stamps, & Collectibles Show at Nikkei
This is a reminder that the next Coins, Stamps, & Collectibles Show hosted by the North Shore Numismatic Society is next Saturday, June 2nd. The show is held in the Exhibit Hall of the Nikkei National Museum & Cultural Centre in Burnaby, 4 km east of Metrotown. Doors open at 9 am and the show ends at 3 pm. Admission is $2 and FREE to everyone age 16 and under if accompanied by an adult. There is a Japanese restaurant on site, and other restaurants close by. Hope to see you at the show. Thanks. To celebrate the start of the Chinese New Year, Pobjoy Mint has issued a unique coin which incorporates some of the old Chinese traditions to bring luck. February 8th 2016 sees the start of the Lunar Year of the Monkey which has been celebrated since 2600BC and it’s based on the cycles of the moon. The design on the coin shows an intrepid monkey walking along a branch surrounded by cherry blossom, which is considered one of the most popular flowers as a symbol of good luck.
